You may have heard the recent announcement about the new .au direct domain that has been released.  Today, existing holders of a domain name ending with .au (your website address) can register for their equivalent, shorter and more memorable .au direct domain name.

Put simply, plus1group.com.au is able to register for plus1group.au.

 

Why would I do this?

 

From the 20th of September, any eligible person can purchase a .au direct domain.

By registering for a direct domain, you are preventing others from registering a domain using your name.  Take McDonald’s for example, if they were to not choose to register, any individual could register the domain name McDonalds.au

This is particularly critical where your specific product or company brand is identifiable by your website name, such as westernstarbutter.com.au.

 

Benefits of registering your .au direct domain name.

 

Registering your matching .au direct domain name before 20 September is quick and low-cost.

Here is why it’s worth your while.

  • It prevents anyone else from buying it, whether they’re cyber criminals or others looking to flip domains.
  • It’s inexpensive.
  • You don’t have to use it or create a new website. You can keep using your main website address and redirect the new .au direct domain to that existing address.

 The new .au domain is better, as it

  • Is a new option for Australian domains
  • Is shorter & simpler
  • Is uniquely Australian

As well as being a great way to ensure you are in control of your brand on the internet, registering for a .au direct domain can help you when the time comes to launch new projects or events: you will already own a place online that can house a microsite for a new product, for example.  It can also offer you a short, memorable name for a new business idea.

XERO Pricing Changes

XERO Australian pricing update

From 15 September 2022, the monthly retail price of Xero Business Edition plans in Australia is changing.

  • Starter plans increase by $2 a month to $29 a month
  • Standard plans increase by $5 a month to $59 a month
  • Premium 5 plans increase by $6 per month to $76 a month
  • Premium 10 plans increase by $7 per month to $87 a month
  • Premium 20 plans increase by $9 per month to $109 a month
  • Premium 50 plans increase by $12 per month to $149 a month
  • Premium 100 plans increase by $14 per month to $177 a month

And, from 15 March 2023 the monthly price of Cashbook and Xero Ledger plans is changing.

  • Non-GST Cashbook plans increase by $1
  • GST Cashbook plans increase by $2
  • Payroll Cashbook plans increase by $2
  • Xero Ledger plans increase by $1

The price of our Payroll Only, Ultimate plan and any optional add-ons you have as part of your subscription will not change. This web page tells you more.

This price change will help us continue to respond quickly with the tools and services businesses need to operate efficiently in changing environments, and improve Xero for our customers now and in the future.

If you have a current Xero promo code, it will continue to be applied to the new pricing, until the code expires.

MYOB Business Pricing Changes

MYOB Business pricing changes

At MYOB, we are working hard to continuously develop products that help make business life easier and drive success for your practice and clients.  

In the last 18 months, we’ve delivered over 360 improvements, including key features such as recurring transactions, enhanced employee self-onboarding, and improvements to invoicing and reporting. For the full list of enhancements, please see the MYOB Business release notes

As we continue to invest in your clients’ experience, the new subscription prices below will be effective from 1 September 2022: 

  • MYOB Business Lite will increase to $28 per month 
  • MYOB Business Pro will increase to $53 per month 
  • MYOB Business AccountRight Basics will increase to $60 per month 
  • MYOB Business AccountRight Standard will increase to $74 per month 
  • MYOB Business AccountRight Plus will increase to $130 per month 

The above are recommended retail prices (RRP). Any current and valid offers or partner discounts will continue to be applied to the RRP. Pricing for any additional services your clients have as part of your subscription such as bank feeds, payroll or financial services remain unchanged.  

If you subscribe to MYOB software on behalf of your clients and manage the billing relationship with us, the amount on your monthly invoice will change. You may choose to adjust the amount you bill your client accordingly. 

For clients who pay their own subscription, we will be notifying them of the price changes from early August 2022. Please view a copy of the client communication and landing page for your information. 

 

MYOB Essentials to MYOB Business update 

Earlier this year, we let you know we would be moving existing MYOB Essentials customers to MYOB Business to align with the new product naming and pricing structure. We are progressing well with MYOB Essentials Connected Ledger and once complete, expect to start moving all other MYOB Essentials files from September when any pricing changes will take effect. 

The good news is that the majority of existing MYOB Essentials customers will benefit from more flexible pricing, either by directly saving on their base subscription cost or breaking even while getting access to more functionality.
