Hubdoc – What it is and how it works
Hubdoc is a new data capture tool being used to extract data from documents and then create transactions in Xero.
With Hubdoc you can:
- Email bills and receipts straight into your Hubdoc organisation
- Use the mobile app to upload a photo
Hubdoc works by extracting key data, such as the contact, date and amount, as soon as it receives a document. Xero creates the invoice, bill, credit note or spend money transaction with a copy of the document attached when you publish the document.
Hubdoc can be set up to automate every step so all you need to do is reconcile the transaction against your bank statement line in Xero. This can be greatly helpful if you regularly receive bills from the same supplier.
Documents can be easily stored and organised using tags and folders or send them to another cloud storage your business may use such as BILL or Dropbox. This means you don’t need to keep paper copies of bills and receipts.
Similarly to Xero, you can invite your accountant, bookkeeper or team member into your Hubdoc organisation and decide how much access you want them to have.
If your Xero organisation is on a business edition pricing plan, Hubdoc is included in your Xero subscription. While if your Xero organisation is on a partner edition pricing plan, you can still connect it to Hubdoc, however Hubdoc isn’t included in Xero so you’re billed separately by Hubdoc.
